My Skills

Through-out my high school career I have learned many new things. School doesn't only consist of the 4 classes, English, Social Studies, Math, or Science, it also has many other classes that are very important, like computers. I have learned so many new things about computers and technology. I never imagined that there was so much extra abilities that the computer could do. This year I have learned so much about the computer, more then I ever imagined I would know.

-Microsoft Word-

Knowing how to type is very important at this day in age. There are many careers that involve or require that you know how to type. Before I took computers in high school I was not the best at typing, but now I am very quick and skilled at typing. Microsoft Word does not include only typing there are many other aspects to it. I have learned how to format text and format the page in general. Inserting extra objects, wrapping text, setting margins, linking websites, creating a header or footer, adding footnotes, and creating indents are other skills I have learned with Microsoft Word. The thesaurus on Microsoft Word has been my favorite find while I was working on the computers. I say "Thank you for technology!"
Here are a few examples of my work with Microsoft Word:

-Microsoft Excel-

Microsoft Excel was a program that I thought I would never use, but now that I know what it actually is, it is a very helpful program. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program. Excel is mostly used in offices for sales, but it can also be used at home for planning a big vacation or even creating a Christmas List. Microsoft Excel lets you format cells, modify the cells height and width, change or add colors to any cell, and even add a chart to match the information on your spreadsheet. You can put in equations and the computer does it all.
Here are a few examples of my work with Microsoft Excel:

-Microsoft Access-

Microsoft Access is a database program that allows you to store information very easily. I have learned to create a table, create a form for those tables, create a report, and create quires for all the information. I have learned that each table needs a primary key and the field sizes are very important. Microsoft Access can create a great report with any information that you have entered in your table. It can even create a report about information from two tables. Access is a very useful database program that keeps track of important information.

-Microsoft Powerpoint Vs. Google Presentations-

Personally I like Microsoft Powerpoint better then Google Presentations. I am a very creative person and Microsoft Powerpoint and many more tools that you can play with. Google presentations however is much easier to transport your presentation and share it with other people. Google presentations does not allow the user to make fun slides with sliding things in and out through-out your presentation. Microsoft Powerpoint is an expensive program, but you get what you pay for. It is a well designed, high quality program that allows people to make great presentations. Overall, Microsoft Powerpoint is a better program then Google presentations.

-Dance-

One of my great skills in life is Dance. Dance has been a part of my life sense I was 3. I dance at Ginny's Danceworks every day except for Sundays. I love being there and I am proud to call it my life. I don't just take classes there I also teach younger girls in ballet, jazz, and musical theatre. I love watching other girls progress and get better at what they love to do. I am also very flexible, which helps in being a dancer. I was born with natural flexibility. I have never had to work at getting my splits. My friends at dance get mad at me for how easy flexible moves come to me. I am also on the competition team at Ginny's Danceworks. We compete in four competitions a year and I also do solo title with three other girls. Solo title is a solo competition where you compete to be Miss Dance of Michigan. Dance has made me who I am as a young women. My mom has always been there for me and cheered me on. My best friend, Sam, also dances with me and we are doing a duet next year together since I am graduating. Dance has shaped my life and has made me who I am today.
